Part-time work can boost the male ego
Many fathers blanch at the prospect of going part-time. They fear that scaling down to four or three days a week would involve an equal diminution of their identity, which is often based on their work to an unhealthy degree.
This partly explains why female employees – certainly those in Britain – are more likely to request flexible working than their male counterparts.
